Jera, PTT eye hydrogen, ammonia in Thailand
Jera, a Japanese company, and Thai PTT have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the development of hydrogen and ammonia supply chains and their usage in Thailand, according to a statement released on May 9.
The two parties will assess the feasibility of ammonia cracking technology to supply hydrogen to Thailand and work on developing a hydrogen/ammonia upstream business in the country.
Thailand has set a goal of being carbon neutral by 2050 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2065, as stated in its National Energy Plan. PTT has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 in line with the National Energy Plan.
Jera aims to create and expand the global supply chain for clean fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, as part of its Jera Zero Emissions 2050 plan. The company will partner with PTT on projects that promote the decarbonisation of Thailand, it said.
