Jera Plans Two Gas-Fired Power Units
Jera on October 6 said it had submitted an environmental assessment document to build two 650-MW gas-based power units at its Chita thermal power station in Japan's Aichi prefecture.
The two units will have a gross thermal efficiency of around 63%, Jera said. It has filed the environmental document with Japan’s minister of economy, trade, and industry, the governor of Aichi Prefecture, the mayor of Chita City and the mayor of Tokai City.
Jera plans to decommission five existing power units at Chita with a combined capacity of 3.1 GW by March 2022. A 854-MW sixth unit will remain. The new units, if approved, will be brought online in August and December 2027 respectively.
