Japan's NYK Line, Tokyo Gas Name LNG Carrier

Japanese shipowner NYK Line and Tokyo LNG Tanker, a unit of Tokyo Gas, October 3 named a new LNG vessel at the Tsu shipyard in Japan, both companies said the same day.

The vessel named Energy Glory will be used mainly for transporting LNG from the US Cove Point project. Energy Glory, with capacity of 165,000 m ³, is the third vessel to be jointly owned by NYK Line and Tokyo LNG Tanker (Tokyo LNG Tanker 70%; NYK 30%). It is likely to be put into service by December this year, Tokyo Gas said.

Tokyo Gas May 21 received the first Cove Point cargo at its Negishi LNG terminal. The LNG cargo of 70,000 metric tons arrived on vessel LNG Sakura. ST Cove Point, a joint venture of Japan's Sumitomo Corporation and Tokyo Gas, and Gail Global (USA) LNG, a US affiliate of India's Gail, have each contracted for half of the marketed capacity.
