Japanese Jera Starts US Power Plant

Japanese energy trading joint venture Jera has started commercial operations at its 1.1-GW gas-fired plant in New York State, it said April 20. The Cricket Valley plant is in Dutchess County and Jera has been the biggest shareholder since it joined the project in January 2017. It said it will "continue working to maximise the project’s value through stable and efficient operation of the power plant."

Jera said also it will continue to enhance its enterprise value by expanding its overseas power generation business, taking into account global market trends, profitability, and risk. Jera is a major LNG buyer and seller and is owned by the utilities  Tepco Fuel & Power and Chubu Electric Power Company.
