Japan Plans $10bn Investment in Asian LNG Sector
Japan will announce this week a $10bn public-private initiative that will help to boost LNG infrastructure in Asia, Nikkei reported October 16.
The Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Nippon Export and Investment Insurance will be among those taking part in the effort to enlist Japanese companies in investment plans to build LNG infrastructure, such as offloading terminals and power plants, Nikkei reported.
Asia is emerging as an LNG demand hot spot, as more countries take advantage of soft global prices and ramp up their imports. However, a lack of adequate infrastructure is a major hurdle in the greater adoption of LNG in Asian economies.
