Japan looking to curb gas supplies to large users: press
The Japanese government is looking to revise existing law to introduce measures to curb gas supplies to large-scale users to ensure stable supplies, state-owned NHK reported on September 1.
The change is aimed at addressing concerns about possible supply disruptions in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the news agency said. Japan imports almost all of its gas in the form of LNG.

Gas utilities and the government will ask households and businesses to conserve energy. If that's not enough large-scale users may be subject to compulsory curbs, NHK said.
The revised law is expected to include ways to support gas companies if LNG becomes too expensive. A government-affiliated oil and gas corporation may be allowed to import LNG on companies' behalf.
The economy ministry plans to submit a draft of the revised law to an extraordinary diet session in the coming months.
