Japan Imported Little Over 7 mt of LNG in August
Japan's LNG imports in August stood at 7.06 million tons (mt), up 0.2 percent on year, Platts reported Tuesday citing data from Ministry of Finance.
Compared with last month, LNG imports grew 1.6 percent.
Australia was the largest supplier in August and sent 1.9 mt of LNG to Japan, accounting for 27 percent of overall imports, Platts reported. Imports from Malaysia stood at 1.23 mt, down 9.6 percent from a year ago and down 20 percent from the previous month, making the country the second largest LNG supplier for Japan.
Qatar came in third and exported 1.05 mt of LNG to Japan, down 5.8 percent year on year.
