Jangkrik FPU Job Awarded

Norwegian contractor Solstad Offshore said January 20 it has been hired as a sub-contractor by Saipem to provide offshore installation work, using its ship Normand Installer, for the Jangkrik floating production unit (FPU) offshore Indonesia. The value of Solstad’s contract was not disclosed.

Execution of the offshore work in Indonesia will start in 2Q 2017 and, including transit, the duration for Normand Installer will be about 100 days.

The FPU is part of an Eni-led E&P project. Indonesian upstream regulator SKKMigas said four months ago that first gas is scheduled in 3Q 2017.

Eni operates the project with a 55% interest, partnered by Engie (33.3%) and local Saka Energi (11.7%). It is designed to ensure continuing feed gas foro Pertamina’s Bontang liquefaction plant.

A consortium led by Saipem Indonesia and including South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, Japan’s Chiyoda, and local Tripatra Engineers & Constructors was awarded the main EPC contract worth $1.1bn in 2014.

In June 2015, Eni and its partners of the Jangkrik project signed two related agreements with Pertamina for the purchase of 1.4 million tons/year of LNG starting from 2017.  Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi said at the time that the agreements represented a key milestone for Jangkrik project and confirmed "Eni’s commitment in supplying gas for the development of the Indonesian domestic market."
