Italy’s AEEG Signs Agreement with MEDREG
Italy’s Regulatory Authority for Energy (AEEG) signed a memorandum of understanding with MEDREG, the Institution of Mediterranean Energy Regulators created in 2007.
According to the Italian news agency Ansa, the agreement opens the doors to a firmer cooperation and support.
“The Mediterranean Sea is a strategic area for energy development, source diversification and safety of energy supply: a stronger cooperation between regulators is therefore essential to … promote investments in infrastructures,” said Guido Bortoni, President of the AEEG.
MEDREG is made up of regulators from 21 countries: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Montenegro, the Palestinian National Authority, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, and Turkey.
MEDREG, also supported by the European Commission and the Council of European Energy Regulators, promotes integration of Mediterranean markets and energy cooperation in the area.
