Italgas, Tokyo Gas Network sign collaboration MoU
Italian company Italgas and Tokyo Gas Network, a subsidiary of Tokyo Gas, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop joint projects focused on improving network management, seismic resilience, and green gas distribution, the companies said on December 4.
Italgas will leverage its expertise in network management and digital solutions developed by its "digital factory" to assist Tokyo Gas Network in enhancing its network efficiency and sustainability. This includes utilising advanced technologies for data analysis, predictive maintenance, and real-time monitoring.
Tokyo Gas Network, known for its expertise in earthquake-resistant infrastructure due to its experience operating in a highly seismic region, will share its knowledge with Italgas. This collaboration will help Italgas bolster the resilience of its network in earthquake-prone areas, ensuring continued gas supply even during natural disasters, the companies said.
Both companies will share their experiences and best practices in utilising networks for the distribution of green gases like biomethane, hydrogen, and synthetic methane. This aligns with the global push towards decarbonization and helps pave the way for a cleaner energy future.
