Israel Persisting With Turkey Pipeline Project - Report

An Israeli company's proposal to build a natural gas pipeline to Turkey is under discussion, a Turkish official has confirmed.

An underwater natural gas pipeline from Israel's Leviathan field to the south coast of Turkey is under discussion but runs counter to Turkish policy regarding Israel, newspaper The Jerusalem Post reported.

The Turkish newspaper Vatan said Thursday Israeli Undersecretary Harel Locker and representatives of Delek, an Israeli energy company, met the Turkish Energy Ministry to present the offer.

The Turkish government has not provided a response to the offer because of diplomatic tensions, newsagencies reported an unnamed Turkish energy official as saying.
