Iran's Gas Output Grew 12% During March-December

Iran’s natural gas production during the first nine months (March 21 - December 21, 2014) of current Iranian calendar year grew by 16 billion cubic meter (bcm) to 158 bcm, up 12 percent on year, according to a senior energy official.

Hassan Montazer Torbati, the planning director at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), announced that Iran’s gas exports over 288 days of the current year have risen to about 8 billion cubic meters, showing a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year, reported Tasnim News Agency.

Last week Iran’s petroleum minster, Bijan Namdar Zangeneh, said country’s natural gas output is expected to reach 230 mcm per day by March 2016.

Zangeneh had earlier stated that country’s gas production is expected to touch 100-mcm/d  by end of March 2015.

Recently, Iran has begun to extract sour gas from the offshore platform of the Phase 15 of its giant South Pars gas field.
