Iranian Delegation Heads to Iraq on Gas Export Deal
TEHRAN, May 14 (Shana) -- Iran says it has sent a delegation of gas officials and financial experts from the Central Bank of Iran to neighboring Iraq for pursuing a gas export deal.
Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hamid Reza Araqi told Shana that the infrastructure for exporting Iranian gas to Iraq has been prepared and the first phase of fuel supply to Iraqi power plants will begin in the near future.
Araqi said the Iraqi ministry of power has announced it will receive Iran's natural gas supplies by late-June 2016, adding that an Iraqi delegation arrived in Tehran last week to sign some complementary instruments with NIGC for receiving the gas.
He said Iran will export up to 25 million cubic meters of gas to the Iraqi city of Basra which will rise to 35 mcm/d in a 4-year period.
