Iran to Look for Shale Gas, Oil in Kermanshah Province
National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has signed a 37-million-euro deal with a privately owned company to conduct seismic testing in Iranian province of Kermanshah, which could hold shale oil and gas resources, Shana News reports.
According to Hormuz Qalavand, exploration director of NIOC, shale oil and gas reserves are likely to be found around the cities of Sare Pole Zahab, Eslamabad Gharb and Qasr-e Shirin.
The exercise will cover an area of 1,100 kilometers and is likely to take 14 months, Shana adds.
