Iran to Accelerate Kish Gas Field Drilling

Drilling operations in Iran’s Kish gas field, in Persian Gulf, has progressed by 70 percent and the country plans to accelerate the process, Shana news agency reported. 

Deputy managing director of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), Mehran Makvandi, said two drilling rigs of the company were involved in drilling 12 developmental and one-appraisal wells in the area. 

Iran is planning to accelerate drilling operation in the field. Kish gas field not only can meet domestic needs but will also be able to supply neighbouring countries in the Persian Gulf with gas.

The field is estimated to hold about 66 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 514 million barrels of associated gas.
