Iran Ready to Build Pakistani Section of IP Pipeline
Iran is ready to invest in the gas pipeline inside of Pakistan to be able to export its gas, Fars news agency said citing a source.
The decision was made as Pakistan was finding it difficult to raise funds from other sources for the ambitious Iran-Pakistan natural gas pipeline. The two countries plan to finish the project in next two years.
Iran has already constructed 1,172 kilometres of the pipeline which falls inside its territory. The 2,775 km long pipeline will supply 21.5 million cubic meters of Iranian gas per day to Pakistan.
Pakistan, which is facing sever energy crisis for last few years is trying to procure natural gas from various sources. It recently signed a agreement for the construction of TAPI gas pipleine with Turkmenistan.
