Iran-Oman Gas Pipeline Takes a Step Closer to Reality
Tehran has announced the selection of consultant for Iran-Oman natural gas pipeline, reported Shana News Sunday.
“Selection of Iranian consultant to conduct [feasibility] studies on Iran-Oman gas pipeline has been finalised and legal procedures are under way for awarding the project,” Ali-Reza Kameli managing-director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) said without providing details about the selected firm.
The 400-kilometer pipeline, stretching from Mubarak Mountain to Sohar Port, is defined in two onshore and offshore sections.
Studies on both onshore and offshore sections of the pipeline will be conducted simultaneously to avoid any disruption in the implementation of the project, Shana quoted Kameli as saying.
Iran and Oman in 2013 signed a deal under which Tehran will export 28 mcm/d of gas to its neighbour through a subsea pipeline for 15 years.
