Iran Looks to Boost Gas Exports to 230 mn cu mtr per day by 2025
Iran is looking to boost its natural gas exports to 230 million cubic meters per day by 2025, the ISNA News Agency reported.
If the country gets to this mark, its share in global gas market will be almost 16 per cent. Iran has a market share of just one per cent currently. The country is currently exporting around 34 million cubic meters of gas per day, the report added.
Iran is actively planning to build gas pipelines for exporting gas to Syria, Iraq and European countries in order to capture new markets. It has a gas pipeline network of 34,000 kilometers.
The central Asia nation, which sits on the world's second largest natural gas reserves, is making efforts to attract foreign as well as domestic investors to the sector to boost output, especially in South pars gas field.
The South Pars gas field is shared by Iran and Qatar. The Iranian share, which is divided into 29 phases, has about 14 trillion cubic meters of gas, or about eight percent of the total world reserves, and more than 18 billion barrels of liquefied natural gas resources.
