Iran, Iraq Mulling Second Gas Deal
Iran and Iraq are likely is discuss about signing second contact under which Tehran will supply natural gas to Baghdad, says Tasnim News Agency.
Last July the two neighbours inked the first deal which said Iran will supply Al-Baghdad and Al-Mansouriyah power plants with 25 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas per day. Supplies are expected to start by March 2015.
Iran’s second gas export route to Iraq will lead to Basra power plant, but no contract in this regard has been signed yet, Managing-Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hamid-Reza Araqi told the Tasnim News Agency on Saturday.
He also emphasized that there is a possibility that another pipeline would be constructed to export Iran’s gas to Basra power plant.
