Iran Delivers 56.7 Billion Cubic Metres of Gas to Power Plants in 2015
Iran has delivered 56.7 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas to its power plants in 2015, according to Natural Gas Europe's calculation based on statistics released by two Iranian firms.
According to statistics released by Iran Power Transmission, Generation and Distribution Company, known as TAVANIR, some 8.7 bcm of gas was delivered to the country's power plants between January 1 and March 20.
Meanwhile, the Shana news agency quoted National Iranian Gas Company's spokesman Majid Boujarzadeh as saying on December 30 that since the beginning of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21), over 48 bcm of gas has been delivered to the power plants.
Based on those two statistics, gas supply to the power plants totalled 56.7bcm in 2015.
Mr. Boujarzadeh also said 170 million cubic metres (mcm) of gas has been delivered to the power plants on average per day since the beginning of the current Iranian fiscal year.
Iran plans to boost its gas output to 1 bcm per day within the next 2 years.
Iran’s current raw and sweet gas outputs are around 700 mcm and 550mcm per day, respectively.
