Iran Dismisses Saudi Claim of Having a Share in Arash Gas Field
Iran has dismissed Saudi Arabia’s claim of having a share in Arash gas field, reports Shana News Agency.
“It is highly doubtful that Saudi Arabia might have a share in this joint gas field,” Ali Majedi, deputy petroleum minister for international affairs and trading, was quoted by the news agency as saying..
Arash gas field is shared by Iran and Kuwait and some Saudi officials said that the Kingdom too has a share in it.
“The field is shared by Iran and Kuwait and Saudi Arabia enjoys no share of this field,” Majedi said on Monday.
Arash gas field was discovered in 1962 in Persian Gulf and is estimated to contain 13 tcf of natural gas.
In June IRNA news agency reported that Iran and Kuwait have shown willing to develop the Arash gas field, which is also known as Al-Doreh gas field.
