Official: Iran’s Gas Industry to Significantly Develop Within 6 Years
Iran’s gas industry will see a significant development within the next 6 years, said Hamid Reza Araqi, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company.
Through implementing a comprehensive plan, which comprises 300 modules, the gas industry will develop significantly, Shana news agency quoted Araqi as saying on December 12.
Araqi did not provide details about the plan, but said that its accomplishment will bring notable results.
Referring to Iran’s strategic location in the region and its advantage of having gigantic infrastructures and easy access to global markets, he said that by producing 173 billion cubic meters of natural gas and consuming the same amount, Iran was the fourth biggest producer and consumer of gas in the world in 2014.
“There are 10 gas refining complexes operating in the country with an annual output of 260 billion cubic meters. Meanwhile, over 10 cross-country pipelines, totaling about 36,000 kilometers, are transferring gas nationwide,” he explained.
Iran plans to boost its gas output to 1 billion cubic meters per day within the next 2 years.
Iran’s current raw gas output stands at 660 million cubic meters per day.
