Indonesia produced 5,461mn ft³/day of natural gas in 2020, slightly below the target of 5,556mn ft³/d, the country’s upstream regulator SKKMigas said on January 4. Oil output was 706,000 barrel/d against the target of 705,000 b/d.  

The southeast Asian country completed 15 oil and gas projects last year against the target of 11. These 15 projects can potentially add 9,182 b/d and gas of 111mn ft³/d to the total output, SKKMigas said. Indonesia’s gas output is targeted to reach 12,000mn ft³/d by 2030 while oil production is estimated to reach 1mn b/d, it added.

Meanwhile, SKKMigas said on December 29 it approved Repsol’s first plan of development in the gas-rich Kaliberau field in the Sakakemang block in South Sumatra. The field holds an estimated 2 trillion ft³ of recoverable resources and is a key part of Repsol's gas output plans, despite cutbacks elsewhere in the fossil-fuel business.
