Indonesian ENMP, AG&P Make Splash in Indonesia

Indonesian Energi Nusantara Merah Putih (ENMP) will work with LNG specialist Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific Company (AG&P) to develop a 600-MW gas based power plant in Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, AG&P said August 11.

AG&P has signed an initial agreement with tenants of the Bantaeng Industrial Park (KIBA) outlining the development plan for the power project. The KIBA has seen robust growth in demand for energy and ENMP jointly with its subsidiaries Pasifik Agra Energi and Power Merah Putih are responsible for providing primary energy to the industrial park.

ENMP and its partners will also strive to develop Bantaeng as the centre of LNG distribution for the central and eastern Indonesia region, AG&P said. The LNG terminal and power plant have an estimated total cost of $980mn. "The integration of this project will allow the KIBA supporting industries to accomplish the construction of the LNG receiving terminal immediately. This is a crucial part of the 600-MW power plant itself, which will start operations by mid-2021," said the president director of ENMP, Westana H Wiraatmadja.

The project is now in the engineering phase and is expected to reach financial close within one year, followed immediately by the construction of the LNG terminal and power plant.
