Indian LNG Imports Rise 12% in Nov
India’s LNG imports in November came in at 2.89bn m3 (about 2mn metric tons), up 11.8% year on year, according to the data published by the Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) on December 23. Imports were down 11.9% month on month, however.
The country imported 21.97bn m3 during the April-November period, down 0.6% from a year earlier.
LNG imports in November cost some $700mn, down from $800mn in the same month last year. For the April-November period, the import cost was $4.5bn, down from $6.5bn from the year ago period, the data showed.
Meanwhile, production of natural gas in November was 2.33bn m3, down 9.1% yr/yr. Cumulative output in April through November was 18.7bn m3, down 11.8% yr/yr, PPAC said. Consumption in November came to 5.2bn m3, up 2% yr/yr.
