India's LNG Imports in May Up Over 4%

India’s LNG imports in May increased year-on-year for the second month in a row, according to latest data published by Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).

Last month India imported LNG equivalent to 2.52bn m3 of pipeline gas (about 1.85mn metric tons), up 4.4% compared with the same month of previous year. During the first two months of the present financial year, cumulative imports were 5.15bn m3, up 5.62% year-on-year. India’s financial year runs from April to March. 

During the last financial year, India imported 27bn m3 of LNG, up 2.6% compared with the year before. This was the highest ever imports during a fiscal year.
