India's LNG imports down 24% in May
India’s LNG imports in May came in at 2.23bn m3 (equivalent to 1.6mn tonnes), which represents a year/year decline of 24.1%, the country’s oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) website showed on June 21. The imports were up nearly 1% month/month, however.
For the first two months of the current financial year (FY2024), cumulative LNG imports reached 4.74bn m3, reflecting a decrease of 5.4% compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
Looking at the previous financial year that ended on March 31 (FY2023), India's LNG imports amounted to 26.65bn m3, marking a decline of 14.1% compared to the preceding year.
