India should Re-join IP gas pipeline, says Pakistan
Pakistan has once again made an appeal to India to re-joining Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project.
In an interview with Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Chairman of Pakistan Senate Standing Committee for Defence Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the IP gas pipeline is the most convenient, most feasible and most economical way for Pakistan and India to get rid of energy crisis.
“In fact, we appeal to India that they should review their decision and re-join the IP gas pipeline. It should become Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) as it was before and that will be very good for relations between all the three neighbouring countries if they do so,” Sayed told IRNA Tuesday.
The IP gas pipeline was originally IPI pipeline but India withdrew from the project under American pressure. However, even the IP gas pipeline has been delayed due to sanctions on Iran. Tehran has completed the pipeline on its soil but Islamabad is yet to start work on its territory.
