India Looking For More Gas, Oil From Qatar

India is looking for more natural gas and oil supplies from Qatar, oil minister S Jaipal Reddy told reporters Monday after meeting his Qatari counterpart.

Due to sanctions imposed on Iran, India is looking to move away and diversify energy purchases by talking to other suppliers like Qatar.

Asia’s third biggest economy imported 5.6 million tonnes of oil from Qatar and 7.5 million tonnes of LNG in 2010-11.

Qatar is world’s biggest supplier of LNG.
