Minister for resources and water Keith Pitt said the Australian government is committed to delivering the strongest and most business-friendly investment environment for the country’s resources sector.

“Our proximity to Asia and high-quality resources have seen us become the supplier of choice in global supply chains,” Pitt said. “We will seek to consolidate and strengthen this position in the decades to come.”

Australia will invest A$11.3mn ($8.14mn) over 10 years in the South Asian LNG partnership, which will build relationships across the LNG supply chain between participating countries, the minister said. The country exported a record 80.9mn metric tons of LNG in 2021, up 3.7% year/year.
