Icon Spuds Lydia 10 CBM Well
Australian Icon Energy spudded the Lydia 10 CBM well in the ATP 626P Lydia block permit in the Surat basin.
Icon reported to the Australian Securities Exchange that it had started drilling the well on Sunday using Atlas Drilling Rig 2, the first of three to be drilled as part of a farm-in deal with Stanwell Corporation.
The well set and cemented with a 24.4 centimetre casing at a depth of 105.75 metres, targeting the Walloon Coal Measures at a target depth of 920 metres.
Company managing director Ray James said the rig would move north north-east 5.4 kilometres to drill the Lydia 11 well and then 3.2 kilometres north north-west to drill Lydia 12.
Mr James has previously said the company would move its attention to its drilling operations in the Cooper Eromanga basin and Gippsland basin following this campaign.
