Houston's OTC Cancelled by Covid-19

The 2020 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston is cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, its organisers have said.

The conference, one of the world's largest for the oil industry in the world, drew in almost 60,000 people last year. It had been due to take place on May 4-7.

"As we navigate these difficult and uncertain times, it is with a heavy heart that the OTC board of directors has determined that it is in our best interest to cancel OTC 2020," OTC said in a statement on April 2. "Our priority is the health and safety of our attendees and exhibitors, and we have taken federal, state, and local guidelines into account in making our decision."

Planning will begin for the next conference, scheduled for May 3-6 2021. It joins CeraWeek and other conferences that have been cancelled, while others such as Flame have been delayed.
