Hoegh LNG to Supply Indian FSRU
Bermuda-based LNG vessel owner Hoegh LNG has entered a binding commitment to supply a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for an LNG import project in Jaigarh in western India, it said on November 19.
The project in the Maharashtra state is being developed by H-Energy and is expected to regasify up to 1.5mn metric tons/year of LNG. Hoegh LNG will provide the FSRU as early as the first quarter of 2021, under a 10-year contract with additional one-year extension options available.
"The construction of H-Energy’s LNG import project is near to completion, positioning it as a timely gateway to one of the world’s highest growing LNG markets,' Hoegh CEO Sveinung Stohle said. "The terminal will be the first of what we believe could be multiple FSRU based terminals in India."
H-Energy earlier said the terminal would be ready to start operations towards the end of 2021. The company is also developing import projects at Kakinada port on India's east coast and in West Bengal.
