Hawkley's Sorochynska-202 Well Shows Gas
Australian listed Hawkley Oil & Gas has encountered gas showings at its Sorochynska-202 well in Ukraine in line with its expectations for the resource.
The well, which was spudded in February this year, was targeting the same pool as a well already in production, the Sorochynska-201 well. This producing well is flowing from the Upper B18 pool.
Additionally, Hawkley's Sorochynska-202 well was designed to test the B19 reservoir, which has historically flowed gas, this time on the Sorochynska-469 well, drilled in 1984.
Hawkley said today that during drilling of the well, it encountered elevated background gas levels indicating a gas saturated reservoir at the B18 pool.
From here, the Sorochynska-202 will continue its second objective, drilling to the core of the B19 reservoir, taking a core and drilling to additional target depth of 4,265 metres. The well wil then be logged and cased for production.
CEO Richard Reavley said the company was happy with the results, which fell in line with expectations.
"We are pleased with the progress of the Sorochynska-202 well to date," he said. "Results are entirely consistent with our expectations. We are clearly encouraged by the gas readings we have recorded whilst drilling through the B18 sands and we expect to update our shareholders once we have completed the logging and testing
operations."
