Hartree Partners acquires 50% stake in Austrian biogas plant supplier

Commodity trader Hartree Partners (UK) has signed an agreement to acquire a 50% stake in Botres Holding, an Austrian biogas plant supplier, it said on March 7. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Based in Graz, Botres Holding is a supplier of industrial biogas plants and biorefineries across multiple European countries, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Spain, and Turkey. The company's Bio Scraper system ensures the processing of organic waste, covering the entire spectrum from pre-treatment to the efficient generation of green energy.

Hartree Partners aims to collaborate with Botres to establish a European biomethane production business, concentrating on feedstocks compliant with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED). This venture will operate under the Botres brand.

The joint business venture will prioritise asset development activities in select European Union countries, expanding its footprint into additional nations based on opportunistic growth prospects, Hartree said.
