HAM to Build Chile's First LNG Filling Station
Spanish LNG services provider HAM Group said on October 21 it had been picked by Chilean gas supplier Lipigas Companies for the design, construction and commissioning of the Latin American country's first LNG filling station.
The station will be built at the facilities of transport provider Transportes San Gabriel in Linares, in the Maule region, close to the major Ruta Cinco Sur highway. It will serve some 30 LNG-fuelled trucks from beverage firm Cervecera AB InBev Chile that will be incorporated into Transportes San Gabriel's fleet.
Using LNG as a vehicle fuel is both cleaner and lower-cost than using more conventional fuels, HAM said. The company has been working in South America for several years, specialising in the design, construction, maintenance and supply of CNG-LNG service stations, regasification plants, bunkering and cryogenic tanks for LNG and other liquids.
