Hafnia takes delivery of 4th LNG dual-fuel vessel

Singapore-based tanker operator Hafnia has taken the delivery of its fourth dual-fuel LNG ship, the Hafnia Lillesand, it announced on March 7. The naming ceremony took place on February 29 at the GSI Shipyard in Guangzhou, China.

The vessel, a 110,000-dwt LNG-dual fuel crude oil and product tanker, is the final vessel in a series of four LNG-powered Aframax-type LR2 vessels ordered by Hafnia through its Vista Shipping joint venture with CSSC Shipping in China.

The first two tankers from the series, delivered in 2023, are actively serving France's TotalEnergies under long-term charter deals. Meanwhile, the Hafnia Larvik and Hafnia Lillesand have been chartered to Norway's Equinor.

"This milestone underlines our commitment to sustainability and innovation in the shipping industry," Mikael Skov, CEO of Hafnia, said.

Hafnia said it will continue its collaboration with GSI in constructing four 49,800 dwt dual-fuel Methanol Chemical IMOII Medium-Range (MR) newbuilds, together with joint venture partner Socatra of France, which are set to be delivered in 2025-2026.
