Energywire: Shale extraction moving slowly outside of U.S.

Oil and gas companies are continuing to prospect for and explore potential shale plays abroad. But officials from some of those companies warned peers at a conference here yesterday that if they're interested in following them, they'll have to move gingerly.

"It's environment, environment, environment and communications," said Wolf Regener, CEO of BNK Petroleum Inc.

Regener spoke at a panel on international unconventional energy projects at the annual "DUG the Original" unconventionals industry gathering here, hosted by energy industry information firm Hart Energy.   MORE
