Gladstone Port July LNG Exports Up 16%
Exports of LNG from Queensland’s Gladstone Port stood at 1.68mn metric tons in July, down 2% month-on-month but up 16% year-on-year, according to the latest data published August 7 by the Australian port operator.
China, South Korea and Japan remained the top destinations. Exports to China during the month were 1.04mn mt, up 63% on year. Total shipments to Japan were 259,508 mt, down 4% year on year. Exports to South Korea were 245,446 mt compared with 173,429 mt in the same month last year.
Other export destinations were Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Exports have risen as more coalbed methane-LNG trains have come on stream on Curtis Island. Gladstone Port said in its annual report last year that it expects the trend of rising exports to continue in the current year as well.
The Port of Gladstone is home to the Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone LNG, and Queensland Curtis LNG terminals.
