Australia's Gladstone Port Exported 1.68mn mt of LNG in May
Exports of LNG from Queensland’s Gladstone Port stood at 1.68mn metric tons in May compared with 1.63mn mt in April, according to the latest data published by the Australian port operator.
China, South Korea and Japan remained the top destinations. Exports to China during the month were 928,170 mt versus 800,032 mt last month. Exports to South Korea were 240,306 mt compared with 308,485 mt last month. Total shipments to Japan were 203,407 mt compared with 199,768 mt in March. Other significant export destinations were Singapore, Philippines and India.
Exports have risen as more coalbed methane-LNG trains have come on stream on Curtis Island. Gladstone Port said in its annual report last year that it expects the trend of rising exports to continue in the current year as well.
The Port of Gladstone is home to the Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone LNG, and Queensland Curtis LNG terminals.
