Germany’s E.ON Clinches Technical Cooperation Deal with Uktransgaz
Germany’s E.ON and Ukraine’s Ukrtransgaz clinched a one-year deal for scientific and technical cooperation on Monday.
"The scientific and technological cooperation between our companies in Ukraine promotes a progressive attention on the gas transmission companies,” Miroslav Khimko, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Ukrtransgaz, said in a note.
The cooperation is focused on underground gas storage, gas measuring, safety and efficiency of the GTS.
Uktransgaz, 100% owned by the state, is the leading provider of transportation and storage of natural gas in the country. In the recent days, an increasing number of pundits have been speaking about the need to technologically support Ukraine. In this context, the deal is a step forward to promote efficiency. It is also a long-term measure to help decreasing Ukraine’s dependency on Russia.
