GDF Suez Announces Initial Gas from Juliet Field
Initial gas has been produced from the Juliet field in the UK’s North Sea, cementing expectations on mature fields, operator GDF Suez E&P UK said on Tuesday.
“Juliet demonstrates our commitment to continuously developing the potential of the United Kingdom Continental Shelf (UKCS) and the value that can be derived in a mature region through the efficient use of existing infrastructure,” Jean-Marie Dauger, Executive Vice-President of GDF SUEZ said on Tuesday.
According to a note released by the subsidiary of the French company, initial gas has been produced from the West Well, the first of two wells. Juliet East is the second one. It is expected to come on-stream in the first quarter of 2014.
The company expects the two wells to produce 80 million cubic feet of gas per day (800 million cubic meters per year or 5 million of barrels of oil equivalent (Mboe) per year).
“Start of commercial production from Juliet is an important and exciting milestone as GDF SUEZ E&P UK becomes a fully fledged North Sea production operator,” Dauger explained.
GDF Suez E&P UK is the operator of the field, holding 51.56% interest. First Oil Expro with 29.44% interest and Hansa Hydrocarbons with 19.00% are the two partners in the field discovered by GDF Suez in December 2008.
