Reuters: France's GDF Suez not worried about Europe's gas supply
Europe's gas supply problems are not critical in spite of the current tension between Russia and Ukraine, the head of French gas utility GDF Suez said on Wednesday.
Russia cut gas supplies to Ukraine on June 16 in a dispute over unpaid bills but has continued to supply gas which Ukraine sends on to Russia's clients in Europe.
"We are not preoccupied, we do not consider that Europe's security of supply problems are critical, unless there's a conflict between Europe and Russia, and not only between Russia and Ukraine, which is not the case at the moment," GDF Suez Chief Executive Gerard Mestrallet told a parliament hearing.
"Russia's major, vital interest is to sell its gas to Europe," he added.
