Gazprom Resumes Exports to Ukraine After 6-Month Hiatus

Russia’s Gazprom resumed gas flows to Ukraine after a 6-month hiatus. For a month, after Naftogaz transferred US$378 million gas prepayment to Gazprom on Friday, the company will be exporting 43.5 million cubic meters a day.  

The imports will meet around a fifth of Ukraine's gas needs.  

According to Reuters, the supplies flow via the northern Belorussian pipeline of Mozyr and the eastern Sudzha route.

in the meantime, some Hungarian newspapers are reporting that also Russian officials see opportunities for a pipeline from Russia to southeast Europe.

"There is ... a chance that we supply the region and Hungary with gas with different focal points, even through connecting to the future Turkish pipeline,” Russia's new ambassador to Hungary Vladimir Sergeyev said according to Magyar Hirlap. 

On Tuesday, European Commissioner Maros Sefcovic confirmed that Europe, Ukraine and Russia have to work on a more long-term agreement to stabilise ties and avoid future crisis. The provisional deal reached in October will “expire” on April 1.
