Gazprom Interested in Macedonia for South Stream Project
Russia’s Gazprom eyes opportunities in Macedonia while maintaining its focus on the South Stream project, President Aleksey Miller said on Wednesday according to a note released by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.
Miller said his company is interested in cooperating with the Balkan country, adding that Macedonia is already in Gazprom’s development plans.
In a meeting with Macedonia’s Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Miller said that Gazprom is interested in future investments in the country.
‘Gruevski and Miller discussed on the further realization of the South Stream project and concrete steps for its setting into operation,’ reads the note.
On July 23, Macedonia signed an agreement with the Russian Federation on cooperation in the construction of an offshoot of the South Stream gas pipeline.
