Gazprom May Switch for Direct Supplies of Gas from Russia to Eastern Ukraine

According to RIA Novosti report, Kyiv may consider cutting off gas supplies to eastern Ukrainian regions.

As a matter of fact, Gazprom can supply gas directly to the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. The Stavropol-Moscow and   Krasnodar-Serpukhov pipelines cross the Ukrainian border in the area that is out of reach of Kyiv authorities now (Prokhorovka gas metering station). Gas flow can be diverted to the Sokhranovka-Oktyabrskaya pipeline. In winter time, it can also be originated from the huge storage facility in the Stavropol region of Russia.

Small volumes can be shipped through the gas metering stations of Parkhomenko, Izvarino and Platovo (see the clickable map above or the Naftogaz map). The Stavropol-Moscow and Krasnodar-Serpukhov pipelines sections may require some maintenance work that should be done as soon as possible.
