Gazprom Discloses Upstream Payments to Governments

Russia's Gazprom published details on June 25 of government payments it made last year relating to oil and gas production activities, as the London-listed company is required to under UK financial rules.

The payments do not include turnover taxes, dividends paid to the Russian government, its main shareholder, or export duties. But they do include production entitlements, taxes on income, production and profit, licence fees and payments for infrastructure improvements.

Gazprom said it made rubles 1.31 trillion ($19bn) in payments to the Russian government, of which rubles 1.3 trillion were taxes on income, production and profits. This is down from rubles 1.35 trillion in total Russian payments in 2018. The company made a further rubles 4.1bn in payments to Serbia, rubles 692mn to Iraq, rubles 118mn to Algeria, rubles 104mn to Bolivia, rubles 91mn to Romania and rubles 47mn to Angola.
