Gazprom Cements Bilateral Cooperation in Eastern Europe
Russia’s Gazprom is not intentioned to lose the upper hand in Europe, continuing to focus on its bilateral relations despite the standoff with Brussels.
Gazprom’s delegation paid a visit to the Slovak Republic on Thursday to address the status of cooperation in the gas sector. Gazprom Chairman of the Management Committee Alexey Miller met Robert Fico, Prime Minister of Slovakia.
‘High emphasis was placed on Russian pipeline gas supplies to consumers in the Slovak Republic and its transit to third countries,’ reads a note released by the Russian company.
Slovakia is among the largest Russian gas transit countries. Gazprom and Slovak partners singed a 20-year gas supply and transit agreement in 2008.
