Gasum opens new biogas station in Finland
Nordic gas company Gasum has opened a new biogas filling station in Rauma, Finland, which will serve both passenger cars and heavy-duty vehicles, the company announced on September 16.
The station offers both liquefied and compressed biogas, allowing a range of vehicles to refuel. Gasum has ended natural gas distribution at all its stations in Finland as of the end of August, with the Rauma station now solely providing biogas.

Juho Kurra, head of Transport Finland at Gasum, noted that heavy-duty transport operators had specifically requested a gas station in Rauma due to the area’s strategic importance as a logistics hub, with a busy port and significant industry, including forestry. The station is conveniently located near Highway 8, making it ideal for transport along Finland’s west coast.
Kurra highlighted the benefits of biogas for reducing emissions, stating that lifecycle emissions from renewable biogas are on average 90% lower than conventional fossil fuels like diesel. Gasum’s strategic goal is to bring 7 TWh/year of renewable gas to the Nordic market by 2027, which would result in an annual reduction of 1.8mn tonnes of CO2 for its customers.
