Gasum in First LNG/LBG Bunkering
Finnish Gasum said December 16 it had performed the first ship-to-ship bunkering of a blend of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biogas (LBG) to a cargo vessel.
The operation was carried out by Gasum’s LNG bunker vessel Coralius anchored outside the Swedish port of Gothenburg. A blend of 90% LNG and 10% LBG was delivered to the M/V Auto Energy, a dual-fuel vessel operated by United European Car Carriers.
In November, Gasum began operating Finland’s first LBG plant in Turku. The plant is capable of processing 130,000 mt/yr of biomass to produce 60 GWh/yr of LBG.
